Manage pages

The "Manage pages" module allows you to customize the page structure of your website, determine when which page is displayed, assign templates, set SEO actions, create Pretty URLs, turn pages into blog-like overviews and much more.

This function is available in the following packages:

wisy base

wisy advanced

wisy pro

wisy expert

Overview

In the overview you see your website in a structure overview and can manipulate individual pages and create new ones.

Next to each page you will find the following settings:
wisy CMS Button Frontend Show page (only available if the page is visible)
wisy CMS Button Edit Edit page
wisy CMS Button Delete Delete page

Show page

Pages that you do not display in a navigation, for example, but are still displayed, can only be accessed using the direct link to the page. Clicking this button calls up the page and displays it for you.

Create new page / Edit page

Page name
Enter the name of the page that appears in navigations on the Web site. From this page title I can also generate the title bar of the browser. In addition, the settings "page_title" has influence on the title bar of the browser. If you would like to make a title entry completely independent of the navigation title, you can do this under "Show SEO settings > Page title".

Template
Choose from available template files here. These files define the layout of the website. Depending on your website you can choose between different templates or just one.

Page image
If your website layout provides for a changing banner or page image, you can define this here. Which pictures come into question is determined by the size of the pictures. The corresponding settings are stored in the Settings. All images that correspond to the width and height values stored there are read from the Image Management and made available here.

CSS Style
You can use this definition to create navigation elements that are visually elevated. The actual definitions must first be specified in the CSS code by the developers. If you don’t know what to enter here, please leave this definition as it is.

Speaking URLs (pretty URL)
With speaking URLs you can make the URLs of your website human readable. This means that instead of a URL like "www.example.de/html/page.php?page_id=1" a real text in the style of "www.example.de/my-title-9-de" can be used. This can have an influence on your search engine ranking and gives the user even if only this URL is available (e.g. a posting in another forum) the possibility to already read the content of the linked website from the URL.

It is important that the input you make here can no longer be changed in order to protect against URL links that are lost in the void. So if you decide tomorrow to rename the subpage, the Pretty URL will remain the same as when you created it.

This is also the biggest disadvantage of Speaking URLs.

Enter a text here to define the URL. The actual URL then consists of this text (converted for the URL line), the page ID and the language of the page.

Example: "My title" becomes "my-title-1-en".

Description
The description of a page is displayed in search results by search engines such as Google and represents the short description of the teasers of the website. You should provide it here as an interesting and informative text that will make your subpage appealing to the user.

Keywords
Keywords used to play a central role in search engine optimization, but today they have completely disappeared from the ranking calculation. Keywords are used today for tag definitions in links on some other websites and can still offer added value for such services.

Meta-Robots-Tag
This entry tells search engines like Google how to deal with the content and links on a website. If you don’t know what to post here, the most useful setting is "index, follow" (default).

The first value stands for the current content or the current page, the second for links on the current page.

What the values mean:

  • index, follow: Index the content of the subpage (or index the subpage), follow the links to other subpages.
  • noindex, follow: Ignore the current page, but follow the links to other subpages
  • index, nofollow: Index this subpage, but ignore the subpages linked here.
  • noindex, nofollow: Ignore this subpage, ignore the linked subpages

This setting is useful if, for example, you want to avoid duplicated content. Duplicated content occurs when a website has very similar or identical content to another and can be interpreted by Google as a copy of another page and devalue the subpage.

Activate this option to make further settings for social network definitions on this page.

Open Graph Title and Description
Open Graph is a description process initiated by Facebook that other providers are also slowly picking up. It can be used to define which description and which title should be displayed when linking to SocialMedia websites. If you do not enter anything, the description texts and the title of the actual website will be used.

Show mobile user settings

Associated mobile pages / Mobile Template
You have several options to respond to mobile users:

  • "- Do not use a mobile page -" und "- Do not use mobile template -":
The mobile user also receives the normal website like a normal visitor, which usually only makes sense in connection with an adaptive design (Responsive Design) of the website. This procedure normally retains the content available on the website, i.e. only offers adapted content for mobile users via detours (e.g. hiding certain areas). Which contents are displayed can only be set via programming itself. For this option you do not have to make any further settings, but you need a Responsive Design to deal with mobile users separately. Otherwise, mobile users may experience display errors, cumbersome operation or similar problems.
  • Specify a separate Mobile subpage:
This subpage should provide customized content for mobile users. In addition, the template of this page should be optimized for mobile users. This can be a response template or a static template adapted for low resolutions. (a Responsive Design is recommended)This enables you to maintain content separately for mobile users only and, for example, only display content that makes sense for users with smartphones. An example would be to show directions and contact information on the page, but not the company history or similar.
  • Specify a Mobile Template:
Mobile templates can have advantages over the standard template in so far as you need to load less content. While pure response designs normally perform the necessary server-side authorizations for displaying content anyway and then selectively deactivate content using the style information, you can also save server-side calculations with mobile templates. However, an appropriate template must be available for this.

Subpage of
With this option you determine the hierarchy level of the page on your website. You can create it as a subpage of another page or enter it in the top level.

How many hierarchy levels you can use depends on your website design and the setting "max_hierachy_level_pages" in the Settings.

Order
Define the order in which the page is to be displayed in the selected hierarchy level. The page is displayed AFTER the selected entry.

Direct link
If you do not want to make this page accessible at all, but want to send the user directly to another page, you can enter a link to another page here. You can also use jump points.
Example:

  • internal linking to other page: page.php?page_id=0123
  • external linking to other websites: http://www.beispiel.de
  • Jump point / anchor link on same page to content element: #content_el_0123
  • Jump point / anchor link on same page to manual jump point: #012345

Show blog and news page options:
To turn your page from a normal website into a blog or news page, you can use these options to make various settings.

Content ordering:
With this option you can determine whether content on your website should be sorted manually or chronologically. Select "DESC" (descending) to position the newest entry at the top, "ASC" to reverse the order or Manual (default) to reverse the order via the adminbar regardless of the editing date (interesting in this context): FastEdit: Advanced Settings).

Entries per page
This option activates a scroll function for the corresponding page. Specify a value greater than 0 here to always display only X content elements on a page and then show a scrolling option with more pages.

Maximum text length of an content element:
With this option you can anteasize the content elements (depending on the content of the article with or without image) and only with a click on "more" the whole article (content element) is displayed completely. This is especially interesting for search engine optimization of blog and news pages, as each article now has its own subpage, with corresponding address, page title, page description (interesting in this context): FastEdit: Extended Settings), etc. and thus gets a stronger weighting.

Login needed
Protected areas can be defined with "Login required". If you simply activate this option, the visitor should first enter a password in order to access an area. In combination with the FrontEnd user administration protected areas can then be created.

Page with register form
(only available, if "Login available" is active)
If you would like to provide a form with which a user can log in for a front end user account, you can define here where this form is stored. The user who is not logged in is then notified of the page as soon as he calls up a protected page.

Show in navis if not logged in
(only available, if "Login available" is active)
Use this to define whether a protected page should still be executed in the navigations of the page or not.

Show
Here you can specify whether the page should be accessible at all at the moment. If you deactivate this option, the page is not available even for users who know the direct link to a subpage.

Show in main navi
This option allows you to specify whether the page should be displayed in the main navigation (which includes the sub-navigation) or not. This allows you to create pages that can only be reached via a text link on the page or via a direct link.

Show in side navi
(only available, if activated in Settings)

Specify whether to display the page in the side navi. Normally, the side navi contains pages such as "Imprint", "Privacy Policy", etc.. (depending on the design and structure of the page)

Show in hor navi
(only available, if activated in Settings)

Specify whether to display the page in the HorNavi. The HorNavi is only used in some pages and simply represents another navigation option if the main navigation and SideNavi are already in use. Normally it is used mainly for horizontal navigation designs without sub-pages.

Show for languages
This option allows you to display the page in certain languages only. If no language is selected here and a user is linked directly to this page, the user will be redirected to the first page of the website for which the language he/she is using is available.

Delete page

In order to delete the page with all the content entered on it and in all languages, confirm the query, otherwise deny it.

If you only want to "delete" the page for one language, edit the page and deactivate the corresponding checkbox under "Show for language".
